International Day

This year Jönköping University organised one big International Day in the campus arena. Together with all the other representatives of the dutch universities we presented the Netherlands and its great culture. We dressed up in its traditional colours and offered dutch treats, such as “stroopwaffels”, black liquorish and of course bread with chocolate sprinkles. Other students, especially Swedish students, had the opportunity to ask us more about how it is to study in the Netherlands. In these two hours I also took the chance to walk around and explore all the other universities. I walked by Australia and tasted some Vegemite (which had a quite interesting taste to it), talked to the students of Botswana University and their master programs and discovered that a lot of students represented the country of France.

I believe it is very important to organise a day like this at every university. It will help the students to step out of their comfort zone and discover new places to study at. Although the free food was one of the main reasons that so many students came by the campus arena this day they were also curious to learn about the different countries and their cultural customs.
